hokay.
so two weeks ago nicole's car was acting up, dimming headlights and shit.. stalled on me one night.. anyway, then it wouldnt start. new battery, and hokay its fine, til now. its stone dead again, 11.8V at the battery, NO accessories, NOTHING. not even a interior light or a relay click. i towed it back to our apt with my jeep last night.
anyway, last time it happened, i check the alt and it read 14V from the alt wire to chassis ground- even though i was pretty sure the alt wasnt charging the batt, nicole's dad insisted it was the battery, so she bought a battery. been fine for 2 weeks, now its dead again.
last week it was dead and i went to check it, closed the door and bam the it came to life. i went crazy looking for a loose wire and came up with nothing, and it was fine for a while after that.
last night it took FOREVER to jump, and when we got it running, i let is idle for a while then turned on the headlights and bam dead.
ideas, go. i dont want to have her drop money on an alternator til i know that its 100% the problem.

Check grounds. Do you have access to a battery alternator tester?

nope, all i have is a DMM that i can borrow from my friend next door. its a 93, 3.0 V6. i checked the grounds i could see, unless theres some engine ground i cant see. batt voltage is the same from + to - and from + to chassis.

Adam how clean are the battery terminals themselves? Scrape them down and hit them with some sand paper.

Scrape them down and hit them with some sand paper. i have those terminal cleaner wire things.. did that before i did anything else two weeks ago. i gotta really get under this and look for bad grounds. i think it might be in the door or that side somewhere in the dash. fuck.
