I need to remove that stud that the original sway bar is held on by to install my discos. I got one of them out a long time ago by drilling it out, but I had an unlimited number of drill bits since I got them on a 5 finger discount from work.
I cut the head of the bolt off and the threaded end, but the remaining portion in splined and looks like its pressed in. I heated it red hot and hit it with a bfh and it hasn't moved at all. Is there tried and true method to remove these? I was thinking of a pitman arm puller? I don't have access to any air tools.

You need to heat around it. Heat makes things get bigger. Your best bet with the heat is to heat around it and never the actual stud. Once the heat gets to the stud it grows at the same rate as the metal around it, thus doing nothing.

Thats where I was heating. I heated the side nearest to the tire in kind of a circle fashion and got just around it, as hot as I could. Plus I was only using a mapp gas torch. Don't have an oxy/acetylene set up.

I used MAPP gas. The MAPP kits are pretty cheap and are hotter then propane, you can braze with them pretty easily too. The piece is an interference fit meaning the stud is bigger then the hole so if you heat the metal around it it will expand, then just keep hitting it with a sledge or something. Put a nut on the end of the stud so you don't end up mushrooming the bolt then it wont come out. Once it pops free, remove the nut and badda-boom, done-ski

when I did mine on my zj, the stud was a royal pita! i used the bfh method... but for this to work well, make sure you have something rigid holding the sway bar in place so you get the ptimal transfer of force. i just used a piece of firewood and pounded away
