i have the currie HD steering and bent it slightly at rausch. The currie is solid 1 1/4". I am planning on sleeving it with some DOM to beef it up alot. should i go with 1 1/4" ID DOM or 1 1/2" ID DOM? i was thinking 1 1/4" ID and i could sand/grind the tie rod to make it fit if i had to.

It will be impossible to get the sleeve all the way on if yours is still bent. Can you put it in a press and flatten it back out before sending it through.

Thats what I was saying, Even if you got it two where you think it was straight enough it would still be very tough.

No way. You will need a press. It will have spring back.

or just bend it straight as you can and hit up the bend area with a flap wheel until the DOM sleeve tube slides easily over it.... weld the ends or drill a few holes through the DOM sleeve and weld it that way

You guys obviously don't understand that if the current steering is 1.25 plus the paint and knicks and the sleeve id is 1.25 there is no clearance. Even if there was a couple thousands after sanding/ grinding the slightest bend would make it bind up. Plus once you hammer it half way and gets stuck, forget about it. Maybe it's possible I just wouldn't want to see you have to buy new shit all over. See if you can get some pipe with 1 3/8 I.D. That would help.
