powder coat is the answer...but thats a pain...just paint em, itll last long enough, and if not, touch em up...theyre just gonna be filthy most the time anyway

powder coating something not real large is not that hard. You can get a starter kit which isnt that expensive and do it in a regular oven

I had kristas TJ coils professionally sand blasted and painted with construction grade paint for $75 and they said it would not crack off and so far they are mint after almost a year.
