on my cherokee when i had one i just had a piece of chrome intake tube from autozone and stuck it on the stock intake then let it sit in the open airbox. intakes are supposed to increase gas milage but i never notice it if they do cuz im always gunning it to hear how it sounds,

I made one for $12.00 Get a piece of exhaust pipe that is the right diameter to fit the stock air tube and the cone filter. Then weld or bolt a support to it to hold it up and add one or two vac line fittings depending on the year.

Get a 6x9 generic K&N cone with a 3" id. then get a small section of pipe that is 3"od on one end and if not 3"od for the other end get whatever size is required to fit inside the stock air tube. I got my pipe from an exhaust/tuner shop. I get my cones from this site. About half the cost of other places. This should be ideal for you. Its a generic size but its what i used on my old jeep. My new jeep has one that is from a WJ K&N FIPK kit and i got ti free but i am unsure of the details. www.performanceintl.com/shop/length.cgi?filter=ROUND%20TAPERED&flange=3%20INCH&dim=BASE%3A%206%20INCH%20~%20TOP%3A%203-1%2F2%20INCHGreat website, can get full kits or universal cones or stock replacements. Actually now that i think of it, i am getting a stock air box this weekend cause i want to put an air flow snorkel on my jeep in a month or so. If your interested i can sell you my cone and air tube. Its obviously used and the cone is a bit bigger than the one i listed above but it works great. The only issue with mine is that end of the pipe is 1/4" smaller than the stock air tube so i had to use an adapter to bring the pipe diameter up a bit. $50 shipped. Just needs paint. Warning about doing this though, it does make a pretty loud whistle noise when at high rpms, when the filter is clean.

i ran a k&n drop in (and kept it cleaned and oiled) for not even a year. i popped my tube going to my TB and saw it was covered in dirt. switched back to the paper and put the k&n in my stepdad's road going XJ

or just leave it? you barely gain power or mileage from these things. unless you get it for 12 dollars like he did

i use a sick $4 filter from autozone, keeps mah engine mint n stuff, and i don't gotta clean it, i just buy a new $4 filter
it would take me like a million filters to justify the cost of a k&n hot air intake straw
