well it is held up by eight bolts fyi but i was planning on extending it back further to utilize two more threaded holes in the frame and weld in quarter inch plate all around it. i dunno what to do know

well it is held up by eight bolts fyi but i was planning on extending it back further to utilize two more threaded holes in the frame and weld in quarter inch plate all around it. i dunno what to do know stock is 2 bolts and 2 nuts. where did you get the other 4? just dont use the stock crossmember, those things bend like butter. it will be much worth your while to start over. a nice chunk of 2x6 rectangle tube and build off that.

i dunno why but i have eight bolts holding my crossmember up into place. there are four more holding it up on the side of the frame

i hope your not counting the 4 nuts in the center. the crossmember has to hold the weight of the tranny and is connected through those 4 nuts in the center.

mounting points dont matter i can bolt a tissue to my jeep with 60000 grade 8 bolts its still a fucking tissue
and i cant see what your talking about with the other 4 mounting points anyway.

not a lie. i had to take eight bolts to drop the crossmember down plus the additional four for the tranny mount.

just build a new x member or build off the framerails. what you are doing now is the downslope of what was shaping up to be a nice build.

heres what i did. i mocked clayton a little bit and made a "three piece crossmember" it all fits up there. now all i have to do is make the ends way stronger and weld them to the frame. the end pieces are going to be 3/8 thick all around or thicker and will be welded directly to the frame. should be more than strong enough looking at clayton's setup. the actual middle piece is obviously strong enough to hold the transmission up cause it's been doing so for years. i'll post up pics later once they are beefed and welded to the frame
