2.5" bs!? your wheel bearings are gonna hate you. what are you running now? 4" BS w/ 15x10s. I was going to use 1.25" or 1.5" wheel spacers too... is that bad? = 15X8s with 1" - 1.25" backspacing?

A post from jeepforum that I made...

To say "aluminum wheels just break" is bull is simply bull****. I'm not even running forged aluminum wheels, just plain old American Racing wheels, but they and the cheapy American Eagle wheels hold up just fine to some of the toughest rock crawling trails just fine. Only the steel wheels I used to run weren't able to hold up. I managed to put a small dent into a non-forged American Eagle aluminum wheel while rock crawling 7-8 years ago but a sledgehammer knocked the dent out once I got back home. So no, it didn't even break when that happened.
One more thing... non-forged aluminum wheels aren't stamped, they're cast.
Aluminum wheels just break is BS, but steel wheels are stronger and will take more abuse. I cracked an aluminum american eagle wheel... while driving in a snow storm... got a little to close to a high curb without knowing and it tore the wheel apart, which tore my tire apart = not fun. I was barely moving when it happened = rockcrawling speed. Needless to say... I buy steel only now, which are also a **** load cheaper and I bang into rocks monthly. Haven't broken a steel wheel yet... just bent / hammer back.
