Of course, duh! No, Im just kidding. There are no plans to do any sort of towing with the YJ. I put the hitch on there so I have a recovery point (still going to add d-ring mounts when I order them). I put the hitch on so I can have options. Maybe one day Ill mount a vice to a hitch for trail repairs, or maybe add some cargo basket or something. I dont really know yet. The hitch cost me about $5 in steel to make and I figure it cant hurt to put it on. Ya never know when I may just need it.

we have some portable gas drive welders on trailers. maybe you could trade in the mm200 for one and tow it on the trail with you

I went back out today to finish the bumper. I cut 1/4" angle to make the mounting brackets, drilled them and welded them to the bumper. Painted the bumper Bumper bolted in with grade 8 hardware Finished product

Looks good steve. Should you consider welding it permanently to the rear frame to make it a cross member bumper?

Thank you for the compliment. Its not 100% but its not bad for my first project. It is officially my crossmember/bumper now. It is definately much stronger than factory. Factory only used a 1/8" (or so) crossmember that is held in with some small spot welds and isnt even boxed. This is a 3/16" bumper with 1/4" brackets welded to it, then grade 8 hardware sandwiching the brackets and going through the frame. At first I was thinking of welding it to the frame but I dont really think it would be much, if any, stronger by doing so. I think that its tied into the frame pretty solid and if I ever need to remove it, its just a matter of a few bolts.
