What should i look into using for soft top material on the desert jeep? no i dont wanna pay some shop to make one, its a dang fortune. i just want a square of something basically that will have snaps on it (ill put those in obviously) along the roof line, and then itll stretch and tie down in the back like a safari top.
no i dont want tarp, no i dont wanna use anything completly half ass lol.

step one: go to an army surplus store. step two: buy canvas step three: add tension strapsstep four: waterproof it step five: pwn edited... buttons suck on tops. especially when the temp. fluctuates. the material for the top shrinks when that happens. my suggestion for making a top, use military canvas/backpack style straps and tentioners. use fishing line to sew it together rather than thread. Make sure to design in overhang flaps to stop the rain from dripping on you between the roof and doors. waterproof. lather, rinse, repeat.

the shrinking is permenant now on my bakini top. bestop is dumb and puts velcro on the sides, it doesnt hold tho, so its always just flapping around. im gonna put some tension straps on the sides this spring.
the material for soft tops and whatnot is the same as most boat tops. we can never get my friends boat covered right because the top shrunk so much the buttons dont line up.
come to think of it, my YJ had buttons on its top too... those sucked as well
Will... stay the hell away from buttons man!

Marinas. get a boat top. more than enough material to work with. waterproof, and ive seen tops in the tan you want. if theres no water around you, we have tons of marinas in danbury. i could take a look for you if you want.

What about a tonneau cover? My cousin has a black one off his silverado that he just sold. You could probably hack up.
