ok so ive heard everything every web wheeler on the planet has to say.
But does anyone with any REAL experience or knowledge share with me why sch40 should be so out of the question for my light duty cage?
so far on pirate ive seen numerous accounts that as long as you have a sound structure/weld, it should be fine. Numerous guys saying their buggies have sustained multiple rolls with sch40 with no bad results.
only thing ive gathered is: sch40 pipe is a lot more dent resistant, as it is more rigid(which in hand causes sheering more often). and tube such as DOM will give more allowing a bend instead of a break, but only in serious cirumstances.
I just dont see how sch40 is as life threatening as people make it out to be. It isnt as simple as "if you use pipe youre stupid" as far as im concerned right now.
</legit tech post>
oh and not to mention im not even building a comp buggy. im just replacing lost rigidity in a roof

Will just use pipe. You aren't building a rock crawler with it. You are just looking to make i more rigid. The way in which its made is more important.

if its free lets just build a buggy out of that shit, dana 30/35 axles, a small vw engine, np231. some 33's
the thing will be so light axle snapping wouldnt be too much of a problem. lets show neuroc whats up.

is it gona be an interior cage or exo. if ur doing a cage on the instide id use DOM, on any of the other sites like pirate or pavementsucks if u use pipe on a cage they will destroy you with comentary. even as an exo i wouldnt use pipe just for that face that if you roll a piece could break and come through the body and stabs u or someone else. idk when it comes to a roll cage i dont f-around its something thats gona protect you one day, so. idk its ur truck and ur call just puting my two cents in later

There are web wheelers everywhere Ive seen plenty of cases on pirate or whatever other board with people who use proper pipe (not Home Guido shit) and it works perfectly fine, and the strength statistics of HREW and Sch40 being very very comparable. pipe doesnt just magically sheer apart everytime it touches something, sch40 is more than ok for an exo if anything. This isnt a buggy cage. Im not knocking you but all i ever hear is "stop fucking around with risking your life and just buy DOM" when absolutely none of those people have any real world experience or facts to go along with that. Its just what they heard from some random person on the net. Everyone i have spoke with who actually has experience and facts has told me for my application sch40 shouldnt even be an issue.
