I started my onboard-air set up this past weekend, and ordered up the rest of the parts to complete it before Rausch. My 360 has a York compressor on it, but the clutch was shot. I purchased a York from an older Mustang a while back and never got around to doing anything with it. So I swapped the Mustang's York onto it and measured up for some new belts and put those on as well. I also ran to Home Guido to pick up a few fittings for the odd-sized ports on the compressor to make them all 1/4" fittings.
Today, I called Poly Performance and ordered up the last major parts of the system. I ordered up a Kilby 1.75 gallon tank, Kilby safety relief valve, Viair check valve, and Viair onboard air hookup kit (includes the pressure switch of 110psi on/150psi off, dash guage, etc). The 2 day shipping cost just about half of the entire order...Damn UPS. Well, the stuff comes in on Thursday so hopefully Ill get a chance to do it then. If not, Friday morning Ill be doing the install before Rausch. I cant wait to see how it works (hopefully).

Nice I actually just got a little 1/3hp compressor for my heap and just put all the fittings on it . I wanted to get an air tank possibly but I have no space for it.

i just started my own onboard air system im using 2 slightly oversized propane tanks plumbed together in the rear of the XJ i cant wait to finish it and get it up and running... im looking into a way of regulating it right now... i want the compressor clutch to disengage automaticlly when the tanks are at about 120 PSI but i havent done any research yet on what i need for a regulator... will that kit you bought work or can i buy just the regulator seperate??

I bought the pieces to build my own onboard air system to the psi I wanted. I didnt purchase a kit with all of it together because it was just way too expensive, and there was some stuff that was just not needed for my application. There are some things that are a must when you build your system though. You need to buy a pressure switch and install that. What that will do is kick the compressor on when the tank gets below a certain psi, and kick it off when it gets to a certain psi also. I went with a 110psi on/150psi off pressure switch. Ive done alot of research on onboard air and there are quite a bit of articles out there to reference. You do need a couple things to make sure your system is safe though. A pressure relief valve (cheap, like under $10) will let pressure out if it goes higher than the system is set to. I went with a 185psi relief valve. A check valve will keep the air pressure from bleading back into the compressor. Here is a diagram of what a system make look like:

How about we make it into a rickshaw and you pull it down the highway with me in it?

You will need to put a regulator on also. The tank may have more pressure than your air tools (if you run em) can handle, so a regulator should be put on. I need to do that next. But the onboard air works perfectly. I just have to go back through the fittings to make sure they are tight because I do get some leakdown after an hour or so.

it leaks? probably because you threw it together in 30 minutes while we were waiting for the rest of the parts to get there on friday.
