If you develop a knock fairly quickly for what seems to be no reason.
Check your flywheel... remove the inspection plate behinf the oil pan and tighten the four bolts on that big ol gear.. no more noise..
yeah, I experienced that just yesterday and today.
now i'm all set..
just gotta make that rear main stop leaking.....................

wait a minute here, i need more details on this
what was the noise like. was there wear on the bolts. did this cause you rear main to leak? bearing go bad? i think this may be my problem. although im still getting the other tranny from ktmracer.

that would be your flywheel. not torque converter. and mine was cracked when i got my jeep, so i got a mint 91 xj with 120k for $250

its the flexplate which bolts to the torque converter, so he wasnt completly wrong, and ive had people correct me that its not a flywheel, apparently we are wrong to call it a flywheel and not flexplate

fix that rear main pronto! X2... After a while you end up paying so much for oil, that you would have been better off fixing it in the first place.
