what year? All grand wags had 44 fronts, but some came with a model 20 rear. double check that. early 80's had vacuum disconnect passanger side axle just like a dana 30. So its weaker than the ones without the vacuum disconnect. You can swap the shafts, but the long side tube will be weaker at that point. The gear ratios suck in em. 2.72, 3.31 etc. Came with open diffs as far as I know.Easy to convert to 5 x 5.5 using Dana or Chevy small bearing spindles, bronco hubs and rotors. Same caliber and bracket as a Chevy. Better caliper brackets than a Ford 44. Come with a chunk instead of a real manual lockout, but you can purchase a set and swap em. Width of them is very close to a Dana 30, 35, or 44 from TJ YJ ZJ XJ etc. 6 x 5.5 lug pattern. There is no adapter to turn a 6 on 5.5 to 5 x 5.5" though. Disc brake front, drum rear. If you do buy em and part them out, Ill buy the shafts (if non disconnect) from you.

Yeah I know what you mean. When I had Clayton install his axle brackets, he actually cuts part of the pumpkin to fit the lower spring mount on level. The upper control arm mount that he welds on goes on the pumpkin too...could be why it cost me almost $700 for the axles and brackets. But hey, if you keep the rear, keep me posted about the front.

your best bet would be to go all the way and do them both or sell em and buy an xj 44.

Not knocking your thoughts Will, but I think going from 6 x 5.5 to 5 x 4.5 is a downgrade. By the time you buy the Waggy 44, gear it, and throw on adapters to get it to your lug pattern, you could have just bought an XJ 44 with your gear ratio.
