A bunch of people have mentioned this to me and im starting to consider it. I want to switch our forum software to vBulletin (as opposed to Proboards that we use now)
It will be a lot more powerful, it should give us a bunch of new features, and just generally be better (we'll have way better search too). To anyone wondering, its the forum software JF uses, and naxja, and so on. its highly customizable so we wont necessarily be just like them, but have the power of them and so on
the catch is, the forum software costs money for me to start it up...its 180 dollars for a permanent license. we also will "lose" all our history here and everyone will need to register again there when its up, but i can edit post counts and join dates to reflect this forum when we're on...i will just turn this one off and itll be linked from there as an archive... i am willing to put some money forwards all the same, and use SOME of the club funding, but
anyone willing to put money forwards, it works the same as any other donation drive we have, you can use the sis donate link at the bottom for paypal....or just send it to the address mrmontez2000@optonline.net
it would be appreciated, lets see what we can do
p.s. i am lookin into getting Karma to work on vBulletin still ;D

Interesting...
I like this "i can edit post counts and join dates to reflect this forum when we're on...i will just turn this one off and itll be linked from there as an archive"
I don't like this "we also will "lose" all our history here"
Is this final? Going to be voted on?

Going to be voted on? we arent gonna LOSE it, hence the quotes...itll all remain here, itll just be linked as an archive from the new forum...everything u see on sis will remain..it just wont be postable anymore on this forum. the new forum will essentially be fresh aside from user stats that i can edit to how they are/should be now there is no lost benefit to the new forum so i didnt think it was worthy of vote really... if enough people are truly against the idea, we will not do it and i will return the money to donators..but i didnt imagine that being an issue

yeah vbulletin is nothing but win. It really costs 180 bucks? I remember getting a pirated version or something couple years back when I was doing websites for gaming clans and shit.

Can we figure out exactly how much we need to donate over 50 members or however many we have?

this SIS forum would still be here, where we could logon and look at old posts and shit, but new posts would probably be disabled. If you wanted, you could copy and paste the shit from your old build thread into a new build thread on the new forum.
