I just killed my fucking beer fridge!
Rant on/
It was a Sanyo mini fridge that I had gotten for college, and since moving back home, it has been on 100%beer duty in my bar. I love this thing because it worked well and was the perfect size inside and out for what i needed it for.
well I never really use the ice tray freezer thing, so it never crossed my mind to look inside until recently to check on the frost level. turns out the freezer was a solid block of ice. alright, whatever, fine, I move it out to the garage to defrost it, because its going to make a mess. the problem is the garage is like 40 degrees. so i get the space heater on it full blast. only problem is that if i set it too close ill melt the plastic of the fridge. so i set it back a foot and get to choppin with a screwdriver to speed things along. I get about 60% of the ice out quick, get down to the metal shelf underneath it and slide the screwdriver on that to get under the ice. next thing I know the fucking shelf is hissing at me because, little did i realize, its actually a cooling core. I fucked up, I punctured it. shitty Im so pissed at myself. Im taking a break to walk away for a bit. so sorry I came here to rant.
/Rant off.
On the bright side, I think i can either solder the hole, or, even better, it looks like the freezer part can be removed. Its set up like a sliding shelf, but I wont be sure until the rest of the ice melts.
if its a seperate loop, and I can remove the freezer part, I win, because I hated it being in the way anyway. but if it isnt, does anyone know If I can get more freon put in this bad boy? or do i gotta buy a new fridge?
god im pissed
I really liked this fridge too.
