Can't believe I'm the first one to say Wood, we have a wood stove in our den and a combination woodstove/fuel oil burner in the basement. We burn about 22 face cords per year

We have a wood stove that we use most of the time however we do have an oil furnace still hooked up that we use either when it is below zero or when it isn't cold enough to go through the hassle of bringing in wood. Splitting wood freaking sucks. I only have to split some random giant pieces that we get and kindling. This year however we got our wood late and someone told me to try splitting it when it was frozen because it would be easier... um... no. Maybe I'm not strong enough or maybe it depends on the kind of wood, but it was endlessly harder.

Whoever told you that is freezing it traps in a lot of moisture so not only is it harder to split but it burns shitty too

Pellet stove ftw, it doesn't have the straight up heat output of the wood stove but keeps the air warm constantly

I think someone else should say burning bodies/flesh, seriously, it's not killed it.
