This lady at my work today was telling me about the blizzard of 78. She said where she lived a town plow truck got burried cause of drifts. Then another came to pull him out and got burried, then a top loader came to help and got burried and all three were like that for three days. She said the fire dept came and got everyone that worked there on snow mobiles, and no one left for three days. (nursing home) I just wiki'd it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northeastern_United_States_Blizzard_of_1978" Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts were particularly hard hit by this storm. In all, up to 55 inches (140 cm) fell in some areas." Awesome...

3ft? bullshit. as of 9:57PM today NWS states 14" as the highest amount of snowfall in NH. Untrue. thats the most at one time. We have had multipul storms with over a foot in one shot so over 3 feet is not unreasonable. Just look at some of the pics i have posted. I have 6 ft high piles of snow in my drive way.
