Okay, so I just saw this and thought of a scene from "BIG" with Tom Hanks. I personally do not consider golf a real sport, but it is a sport according to most sources. That makes me incorrect. The reason I don't think it is a real sport is the lack of DIRECT competition, it has the rest of the components of a sport (in my definition). I think that golf is a game, just as most sports are games, but golf veers off from sports in the aspect of "taking turns". I know that alot of sports take turns in the aspect of who has control of the ball, or what not, but they are always in direct competition. In my idea of a "sport" there is always somebody physically trying prevent you from completing your task. I also do not consider shuffleboard and bocci "sports" even though you can knock someone out of your way, they are games, yes, but I do not think they are sports. Almost all sports are games, but not all games are sports. That is my view. If there was someone out on the green that tried to deflect the ball somehow, or if there was even someone that tackled you if you took too much time, then it would be a sport, as it stands, I just consider it a quaint little game.

god this too for fucking ever to skim through. swimming is a sport where no one ever gets hurt and there is never a fight. if you get hurt its cause you cant swim and youre stupid for entering a swimming competition. Gymnastics rules over all.

All sports are games, but not all games are sports. By your definition, H.O.R.S.E, chess, even video games are sports, one has to draw the line somewhere.

How does H.O.R.S.E not fall into your parameters of a sport? Same with hopscotch or shuffleboard for that matter?

because they arent organized by any means? how does the organization of "HORSE" compare to golf? hopscotch? this is a HUGE stretch thats like saying my stoop in front of my house is the same as a cliff because they both have sharp sheer drop offs at a point

Poker then, is a sport? It does require a specific skill set, and it is organized, complete with leagues and tournaments.
