well, mine need to be changed. the plan was to pull the shafts in my driveway, then get them to a local shop thats been good to me and give a guy a 20 spot or so to swap the u-joints for me.
flash to tomorrow when i was supposed to do this. 1-3" of snow, and its gonna feel ~0F.
the how-tos online are all fine dandy and supa crazie e-z. these u-joints are just a tad over a year old, and my whole front end is freshly installed as of barely 6 months ago, so frozen/stuck bolts and hub nuts and all that are a non-issue.
so, who has changed these in a driveway or on the trail or whatever? easy? im not paying $150+ for a shop to do it so im gonna try and do it in nicole's dad's garage at the FD.

very easy. if your having someone do the work wuts the question? im confused i was going to, but im not gonna be able to pull the shafts now in the snow and insane cold. well, i could, but id rather not. i assume id be pretty miserable. so i'd do them myself in the FD garage.

Been there, done that. The hardest parts for me were getting the hubs to break free from the knuckle. Ive never done a u-joint on a trail but I have done them at my house. Sometimes Ive had to cut the cross section out of the u-joint and then the caps tap right out of the shaft. No need to worry about accidently damaging the ears on the shaft since they will come out pretty easy.

bay secured. i'm doing this and TNT tomorrow AM. i only asked about this bc of my nightmare with my rear DS first time it needed u-joints... tried doing that in my driveway and the caps ended up self-welded themselves to the ears on the shaft. 4 hours of hammering = + +

Ujoint that wont move = cut cross section, tap out caps. 10 minutes.

in that case it will take you 10 hours and your fuel line will be in the way and your 4 link will flex too much causing your tires to stay on the ground. that about covers it i think
