Xmas time is coming up, and ill be buying myself a present. I need to buy a locker for my rear 44. I have two options, Full case detroit, or Auburn ECTED.
Detroit is 550, ECTED is 600, but I get a 15% discount no matter what, and im not really worried about price.
Does anyone on here have any experience with electric selectable lockers, or just selectable lockers compared to a Detroit.
Besides for the obvious ability to turn on and off the locker, would there be any reason to choose a selectable over a detroit? Any downfalls to having a selectable?
Also, what must be done to setup the locker, just drill a hole in the housing for a wire to run out of?

I know the older auburns had a terrible track record. They went through a redesign and are supposed to be better but I don't know anyone first hand that has one.

Detroits are tried and true and stout. Probably going to end up going with this unless someone who knows something about the auburns can give me some insight.
Or if I could find a screaming deal on a used OX.

when it was "locked" it was more like a storng limited slip, if a tire was really caught up, it wouldnt turn. probably good for keeping a dana30 alive, but you shouldnt worry about it in a 44 with 33 spline shafts

when the last time you heard of someone breaking a carrier? The spool I had in my 9" pretty much exploded.
