the stuff ya need begins on page 39
www.dmv.state.ri.us/inspections/PROPOSED%20AMENDMENTS%20inspection.pdf
This is basically for my own info, but i figured i would post it here incase anybody else could use this information in the future.
im gonna go through them and point out which is applicable to my vehicle. My sticker runs out in december, so its time to start tackling these issues.
Issues my jeep has:
lacks backup lamps. I always thought this was required but the law states that they are not mandatory for a vehicle to pass inspection. page 39
rear hatches arent allowed to be tied down with rop or wire or other. so a new hatch is in order. page 40
parking brake: im fucked.i have cadillac eldorado calipers, which have shit parking brakes. it will hold the vehicle on flat ground, but thats it. there is tension in the handle though. page 44
rear bumper is fuct. stocker will work though. i meet all the height requirements. page 53
front bumper. the manual states "inspect bumpers according to the original manufacturers specifications" i highly doubt they will look up stock xj tin foil bumper specs and try to match them to my bumper anyway" so im not too worried with this. page 53
all muffler systems must extend to the outside edge of the vehicle. Mine dumps before the rear axle. $13 autozone tailpipe will fix this. it also states any exhaust system will fail if it is altered or damaged in any way. page 55
this next one i LOVE
fender flares and flaps
on re-constructed flaps the rear part of the coverings should be at least 6 inches from the circumference of the tire and as low as the axle line.
basically my elephant ears fail, im not thinking shops are that anal about this though. page 58
THIS is where im fucked
Check engine light.
it states the light needs to illuminate upon startup, but turn off after. My god damn 99 transmission has no computer, it has switches, and thats the cause of this light. page 63
perhaps there is some way to wire the light on a timer to fool them. or ya think i could just be like "LISTEN BUDDY bladeeblah this is why that light is on, and no other codes are present"
ALTERED VEHICLES
i cant lift or lower my truck more than 4" so i win. but if tires come into play im fuct. page 75
