how many times have you smucks broken your dana 30's though. I know both corey and andy have. I dont want to break, and i want to run larger than 35" tires in the future. Its expensive, but it will hold its value for the most part if I were to go to sell it. Sam paid almost the same for similar parts on his build but he also fabbed his own shit and didnt need the (expensive) tnt truss.
I havent really looked at complete bolt in applications. Enlighten me.

hubs case i break can unlock em drive home diff cover, it will never break. proof www.youtube.com/watch?v=0G5upBGBej0chormos = probably will never break, 10 year no questions asked warranty basically, i dont want to have to worry about breaking. what do you suggest dana hubs, it should have hubs on it correct? be-it external spline, but still good and will still allow you to drive home with a broken shaft. dont see the need to upgrade this yet. grab a spare from a junkyard and call it good? what are you running for a rear axle? are you converting this to 5x5.5? as for the shafts, what size tire you running? i would just get some stock spares for now, for free/little cost and if you blow them up THEN get chromos. but with the stockers use a good ujoint cuz if you blow a ujoint you will take the ears of the shaft out too. the front cover on mine is stock and holding up well. I dont think of it as a nessesity but something to do down the road if the needs / funds arise. so if it were me i would cut at least $750 out of that total. and as for the TNT truss, why dont you just weld a Jonny Joint adapter to the top of the housing and pocket the other $400 ??

^^ its not fun changing d30 shafts on the trail.
you have to worry abotu how hard you can beat your rig every trip out. and its just something to worry about all the time
never mind bending tubes, stresses balljoints ect.. blowing ring gears
but hey, diff. strokes for diff. folks

D44 uses the same ball joints does it not? im simply saying a 30 can be built up, but itll probably end up costing the same.

why hold off on chromo. I dont really ever want to break. Ill recoup some of my money buy selling the 30 and 8.25, and stock tires and rims. Id rather build it stout from the get go, and NEVER have to worry about upgrading. Dont want to have to worry about changing a shaft on the trail, or geting AAA'ed home. I want to beat the piss out of the axle and not have to worry. Build it right the first time, I guess.
Thanks for the link to those chromos, thats much nicer on the wallet.
Was planning on getting warn locking hubs. The waggy I looked at the other day didnt have selectable hubs at all.
It was either between solid or riddler. They both seem the same to me, but ive heard many good stories about Riddler, and they have a pretty badass video proving the strength of their diff cover.
Im most likely going to Japan for a couple months where ill make some cash, and save a bunch too, ontop of my fat income tax check, and I am going to take out a small 3000 dollar personal loan for the rest of the build.
edit
doug, just looked at those chromos you linked me. They dont have em for waggy's, and the lowest price ive found for waggy chromos was ~550 or so.
Also, I have 35's right now, but the reason I got them was because it was a really really good deal. I do plan on going bigger eventually. I know 35's locked can be done on a dana 30, but, id rather not have to worry about it breaking and be able to do full throttle assaults.

it would cost me about 200 dollars in gas to go get this thing. Wonder if I could talk him down some.
